I know there's already an art thread, but that seems to be geared more toward drawings and such, so here's a thread for your minis! Painting, converting, pics of games in progress.
SHOW ME WHATCHA GOT!

I'll start off with my Imperial guard army, the Korvazen 772nd Tiger Rifles!
This is the command squad for second platoon:

From left to right we have vox specialist Kaytee Bennet, long-suffering color sergeant Giles Murray, heavy flame trooper Hughes, flame trooper Jackson, and Lt. Annabelle Duchamp.

This is Lt. Lupe Guerrero, driving her tank around.

"Drive me closer! I want to hit them with my sword!"

Here are my rough riders. They've got meltaguns and meltabombs. To melt things.

And this is what you get when you buy cheap second-hand scout sentinels when you wanted armored sentinels. You get creative!

Next on the list is my Tau army (also relevant!) they're stationed on a backwater swamp planet.

Take a good look, guardsmen, this is your enemy.

Stealthy!

A converted Cadre Fireblade and the only 3 fully painted firewarriors i have.

I am Kroot

This little bastard here has killed so many things its not even funny.

There's also a small sampling of my little Sisters of Battle army from back when they were affordable.

Including my converted St. Celestine

Last up we have my Blood Pact inspired heretics killteam.

This is the leader (center)

A bundle of badguys!

A closeup of one of the plasma gunners, to hopefully help show the conversion work. They're painted really darkly, so its hard to photograph them well.

This video expresses my reaction to your painting skills. But seriously you have to thin your paints because all of the mini's you have look a bit messy and it also clogs details on miniatures. I'm not trying to be mean, just telling the truth

Well, for someone who isn't trying, you're succeeding.
Someone just showed us their very personal collection, and a cool one at that.

Quoth, I like your schemes. And I love the Blood Pact inspired guys especially.
The rough riders are a welcome sight as well. :D

The thin your paint comment made me think of this. https://youtu.be/m3p_VuPIS2c

i'm pretty self-taught at the mini-painting thing, it's actually only in the last couple of months (after all the models here were done) that i heard the phrase "thin your paints." :\
With the tau i did try to do multiple, thinner coats, but i get so little time to do my painting that i often get frustrated with the slow approach.
And thanks, Cat, it took a lot of work to get the uniforms for the IG to look right. I only just settled on one and have to repaint all my guys again >_< i guess i can use thinned paints this time, LordOfWar!
Go rough riders! Don't let things like not really being all that useful get in the way!

An old metal Enginseer who is now acting as a Datasmith for my Ryza Adeptus Mechanicus army. More painting will be done once the weather is nice enough for outdoor priming.

This is absolutely not what a Tauros jeep is for, but Junior Commissars gotta learn to drive somehow.
(I did this in one night for a tournament, but I love me some mud)

I assume the mini (mini-mini?), cat, paints, etc. are greenstuff sculpts?

You fellas sure have some impressive models--better than I've ever managed, certainly. That said, I might consider posting some pics of the Firewarriors I recently assembled, once I have them all painted up and such, as well as any Imperial Guard I might get in the future (Guardsmen and Tempestus Scions have had my eye for a while now...).

As far as comments on people's artistic ability, I follow the rule of permission: If someone asks for criticism, go as far as you feel they'd want (only getting brutally honest and possibly harsh if they explicitly say "Make me cry to my momma" or some variation therein). If they say "I'm new, give me some tips," then suggest a few pointers in as friendly a manner as possible (it's a good idea for all occassions in life to try as hard as one can not to tread on too many toes, especially when no harm is meant). If they just post something and you get the feeling that they're new, then either keep to yourself or politely ask whether or not they would appreciate some pointers you could offer (and if they say no in any fashion, then drop the topic and move on). In all other cases, only provide positive feedback ("Nice highlights," "I really like your color choice," "Dang! You know how to model!"). Hope that isn't too ranty/accusing--as a fledgling artist, I can understand both the necessity of constructive criticism as well as the pain and frustration that poorly placed criticism can cause.

It is a hood, and the sword is from the fantasy empire wizards set.
The heretics are stock scions models, with a ton of bitz tacked on. The hands are from fantasy ghouls.

It's easier to link this than every single picture, believe me. And this isn't even half of what I've done. I've got Deathwing-heavy Dark Angels, Iron Warriors, Mechanised Imperial Guardsmen, Airborne Militarum Tempestus, Speed Freek Orks, Sea Elves, Skeleton Warriors, a small force of Necrons, an even smaller force of Dark Eldar...

Here's some tasters.

99th Aleutian 'Seahawks' Tempestus Scions (Naval-Launched Airborne Assault Regiment)

99th Aleutian 'Seahawks' Taurox Prime (Amphibious Assault Type)

Krimsun Komet, Big Mek Wagznabul's Wazbom Blastajet (Reapa Skwadron)

Unidentified Mars-pattern Predator Infernus, 17th Grand Battalion, IV Legion 'Iron Warriors'

'Iron Tyrant' Siege Terminator Squad, 1st Grand Company, 17th Grand Battalion, IV Legion 'Iron Warriors'
Ferrum honore veniat.

I like the Scions, mainly cos I'm trying to build a scion army, I'm not even going to post my painted models on here, I only have one decent looking model and that's the conversion I did of Comander Bravestorm.

1. I also paint Tau. It was my initial army and I still dream of finishing these guys.

2. Your base is as much a character as the model. These is a model train store where I love and I raid it for base components. Liquid water, lightweight plaster, and rock molds. Behold the awesome.

i'm planning on getting the secret weapon swamp bases for my tau. The problem is that they cost money.

You can do wonders with tinfoil and my preferred softer to shape, harder when dried putty, Milliput.
You can create your own little wells and pools pretty easily, then use texture paints for mud edges, then either Citadel Ardcoat or some dropper bottle acrylic varnish like Vallejo once painted.

It's not just the budget option - it means you can create bases that perfectly fit the poses of your miniatures, compared to pre-made resins.

That ramping Tauros base for example, isn't resin.

That's a thought worth thinking, thank you!
I will have to investigate this.
