Naris was never a industrial powerhouse, little in the way of industry outside of the capital. And since the bombs fell what little there was was burned in fire and buried in ash. What was left was lost in radiation and toxin.

But beneath the outer ruins, where the worst of the fallout died off, buried down under dirt and steel and glass, a door sits. Looming in darkness, it bears the markings of ancient mars, Omnissiahs cog resting on its face, covered in fine dust. Low red emergency lights glow, providing only a small fraction of light. Behind it, locked away was unknown property of the Admech, and something inside has stirred. A small burst of garbled binaric broadcasts, repeating the same warped message to any who would listen.

++POWER CRITICAL...STORAGE FACILITY :&dx&//78?!£]^LEAKAGE DETEC]*_<=*=]~?_...SECURITY SYS-(3*]>k/a#¥~_!?+_((...SEEKING ASSISTANCE...PRAISE THE OMNISSIAH…++
#+#+#
A report had made its way to the hands of a few tech priest, skitarri, and others trusted by the Priesthood. Reports of a previously unknown mechanicus facility had broadcast a distress beacon for 3.765 hours before dying out, calling for assistance. Deemed a potential point for much needed resources, those higher up had given the report to a few to investigate. This is why, much to his own surprise, stood Enginseer Chirigus, beside two chimeras, himself flanked by three combat servitors, one armed with and autocannon, an other with servofists, and the last excavation tools. Chirigus himself was a little shocked by how much the admech was allotting to this task. He pondered over what exactly he had gotten into. Not like he had much of a choice, but he wondered what in his life he had done to lead to this point.

He sighed, vox speaker rumbling in response. He looked out toward the cities ruins, where their target lay, buried below. He double checked the servitors systems for the third time, and had his servoskulls run final diagnostics. His legs shifted as he waited for the others to arrive.

++Hopefully they do not take long…++ he muttered to no one, only the deaf ears of the cyborgs.

The holy priests of the Omnissiah required aid and it was their job to answer the call and protect those sacred adepts as they did their work. Chirigus would see a blue robed squad of Skitarii Rangers approach. He would spot two of them had weapons besides Galvanic Rifles and the leader, designated by the red castellated trim around her robe, had an maul and a pistol. The Alpha walked up before him and stood at attention so he could clearly see that it was a she and had strange plates around her eyes that seemed to operate similarly to eyebrows.

“Introduction: Skitarii Alpha Ranger Zeltra-25, leader of Squad Gamma Phi, First Skitarii Maniple, reporting for duty Holy Enginseer,” she sounded surprisingly human, her voice almost unaltered even through her Breath of Mars.

Behind the skitarii rangers came another form, slowly trudging by them as they stopped. As the figure overtook them, it became clear that the figure was a servitor. He continued to walk until he reached the centre of the open space. Then, rotating at the waist, he took in the surrounds.

He had been ordered to find Enginseer Chirigus and report to him for a mission. He had been given the coordinates and an imagine of the engineer for the task. It wasn't look before he locked into a match for the image.

Immediately, he turned and quickly trudging covered to the Engineer with a puff from his exhaust. Upon arriving close enough, the servitor began to relay his message through the vox hailer mounted below his nose in binary.

++Unit 071C++recaff/hauler++ reporting to Enginseer Chirigus for mission. Status: Recaff dispenser full, no equipment attached to right socket, heat at 23%, head unit clear. Info: Unit to be used as Enginseer Chirigus wishes. Will appropriate suitable equipment for right socket as Enginseer Chirigus commands and requires. Will now only followed Enginseer Chirigus commands and those Enginseer Chirigus deems to command this unit. Unit at the ready++

After chiming out the message the servitor stands silently, fulfilling his previous order and awaiting a new command.

It was not the first time he had worked with the priesthood of mars nor would it be his last. The sergeant would volunteer once more to help the machina once he heard about another mission. Blasted land and fine ash was as much Stehlen specialty as its tunnels. Before heading out he made sure his gun's were properly oiled and cleaned as well as his augmetics before heading out to the meeting grounds tailing behind the Skitarii rangers. His helm on firmly and the dust mask breathing steadily. He would stand at the side of the rangers while he introduced himself after the ranger. Bowing his head and made the symbol of the cog "Sergeant Manner reporting as aid. Stehlen Forged heavy support. Ready to give aid again." placing his augmented fist over his chest and moving down in a bow with the wirr in his spine as he bent down and rose back up.

When Samia DeBouillon was notified of the AdMech request for aid, she immediately volunteers. A mission on the field for the Holy Mechanicus will be a great improvement for her record and if everything goes smooth she can perhaps regain her officer insignias. Leaving her office, she lets Lucius Lachance her commandment.
It’s slowly marching woman, in an impeccable Vosgesian uniform with a meltagun straped on her shoulder, who approaches the group. She places herself between the Stehlen and skitarii squad and tap quickly on the dataslate wired to her MIU, sending a binary message on the local vox.
++ [Local Vox Broadcast; To Enginseer Chirigus; Reporting for Duty]

Combat Engineer – Certification: VMI-18039600-Gamma;
Ready to serve your holiness and the Omnimessiah;
[May the Omnimessiah guide you on the path of Knowledge]
#ADJ_DeBouillon_5225 ++

With the message send, she puts the slate in her pocket, and she kneels in front of the engineer. With her hand making the symbol of the cog, she addresses the group making sure that no-one misses her information.
“Adjutante-chief DeBouillon, Vosgesian’s Storm Hussars combat engineer. Reporting for duty.”
She stays her, her head low, waiting for the words of the enginseer.

Tiesel-19/4's red and white robe caused him to stand out from the blue rangers. He stood rigidly scanning the others who had arrived before him. These were not whom he expected, but of course it was not his place to question a superior, nor the will of the Omnissiah. His task was to kill. In this case, kill any who would stand in the Enginseer's way, and follow the Enginseer's orders until the operation was completed.

"Tiesel-19/4: Reporting as Ordered," his voice low, hinting none of his emotions. He would stay in check on this mission. He would not let his malfunctioning human personality interfere.

Quickly he transmitted his identification and orders. "Ready to serve."

The wind whipped up, blowing cold and hard, ruffling the priest robes as he turned to face the arrivals. Exactly on time. Excellent. Chirigus turned his attention first to the Skitarri, and what a welcome sight they were. He felt a surge of pride rise in his chest cavity, before he let logic return. It was quite the sight to see skitarri rangers in a place like this, and he returned the greeting.

“Welcomed honored warriors. I am glad to have your strength at my side. I hope my knowledge of Skitarri does not fail on our mission.” His bionics screwed forward, noticing the unique appearance of.”You, Alpha, I do not recognize your forge pattern. From where do you hail?”

His attention was then drawn away by the heavy stomps, and the whining of gears and clattering metal. A opti-mech swiveled over, spotting the one armed servitor. He recognized this one, moving around the base and motor pool, dispensing the much craved recaff to those you could consume such beverages. His head tilted a few degrees, wondering why such a servitor would be assigned to this mission. He sent it a short order in binaric.

++Unit 071C; order: acquire utility servo arm.
++Primary Objectives:
+Follow directions of Unit designated Enginseer Alexander, and Skitarri Alpha Zeltra.
+Relay information to Unit Alexander
++Secondary Objectives:
+Protect items of designated importance.
++End command++

He was a bit confused as to why he had been give another servitor, as he had three already, and this one was without an arm. He ran through a few possibilities, when he realized some one was in front of him. This one, more flesh than metal, and armed with a stubber. Leaving his thoughts the Priest extended a hand in thanks.

“And welcome, Manner. Though your presence is unexpected, your aid is most welcome.” Returning the sign of the cog, he motioned to the Skitarri,”You may wish to venture with the Skitarri, as they are soldiers as you are.”

And soon as he had turned back yet another had moved up to him. Chirigus looked on at the display of veneration and faith, the cold metal face unmoving. A hand came down and rested upon DeBouillon shoulder. In a soft voice, he spoke to Samia.

“And May the Omnissiah clear thy mind of weakness. You may rise DeBouillon of Vosgesian. I am but a simple servant of the machine god. But your praise does my old frame well.” He then saw yet another figure approaching. Dressed in red robes trimmed with white, Chirigus raised an “eyebrow” in surprise. He lifted his hand from Samia, and turned to face the new arrival. He listened to the soldiers introduction. Nodding and returning the greeting.

++An honor to have you with us, Tinsel-19/4. May your mind shine bright with the Omnissiahs knowledge.++ he then shifted to back to gothic, “You may wait with the others.”

The Enginseer looked over the horizon, scanning for anyone else. Others may come, but they were late, and lateness does not beget servants of the Omnissiah. The wind flared once more, blowing hard against the assembled groups faces. Mechanical arms extended from the elder admech, bringing forth a trid device that spun to life, projecting a thin and distorted hologram. The image showed those watching an aerial view of the capitol. Chirigus vox hailers cracked to life, projecting his voice over the bitter wind.

“I thank you all for coming forth to offer service to aid the mechanicus, as the task before us may well be one into the black void of space. 7 hours ago, a box message went out from an underground bunker, sealed since the start of the war.” The image suddenly zoomed in, focusing on a glowing blip on the northern outskirts of the capitol city.”The message was broken and distorted, but of obvious Lingua-technis origins. From what has been gathered, this vault was a storage facility of some sorts for the local mechanicus before the war, and was closed when the Xenos forces first arrived. By the Omnissiahs blessing, it was spared from the bombardment of the city, and not choked by radioactive fog. We have been tasked with the exploration and possible recovery of the vaults depths. It is no secret that the motor pool is in a sorry state of supplies. There may also be information that must not fall into enemy hands, or those who would inadvertently destroy it.”

Once more the flickering green projection changed, showing now a street level view as a red line wound through the maps streets from the groups current location to the bunker vault. “We will approach the vault via the chimeras behind us, gifts of the machine god. The forward vehicle, now referred to as Explorer, will contain you, the primary explorers and recovery team. The center vehicle, Observer, will carry the servitors along with myself, and any potential item of value one the way back. A taurox has also been requisitioned, carrying the secondary recovery team, now referred to as Traveler. Cadians and adepts. They will meet us on our way to the gates and follow. They are more for securing the area and to provide support if needed.”

Chirigus paused, looking across each member of the group slowly, optic shutters focusing and refocusing as he looked. He let the pause hang as he thought of his next words, his next orders carefully. Slowly, he spoke again, but a different tone was in his voice. More human, more concerned.

“I am...uncertain of what awaits us. Little is known of the vault, as no records nor blueprints are with us. And there is a possible circumstance that others have located the vault. The transmission was anything but subtle, and it does not take an adept to triangulate position.” He paused again, turning to face the motorpool. It was hard to tell what he was thinking, only glass and metal to stare upon. With what sounded like a sigh, he turned back to the group.

“But, we are not to fail. The base, nay, the Omnissiah themselves watches us. This mission may be a fool's errand, but if it furthers the other of knowledge, then it is well worth our time.” The projector flickered off, as the servitors received orders to embark on their vehicles. Chirigus turned motioned to the first chimera, moving to the side to allow the group a clear path.

“May the Omnissiah bless your minds, your weapons, and your augmetics. I will be in contact from the the chimera, from Observer. When we make contact with the vault, my second in command will be an Adept of the name Galleus. She will accompany the secondary retrieval team and report her findings. If you require assistance she will respond. If there are no questions, we leave in 3.46 minutes. I do not like to be late.” And with a turn, the Tech priest strode to the secondary chimera, leaving you to ready up among yourselves.

((You all have a while to mingle and get to know each other, or ask Chirigus any additional questions.))

In Morale and Discipline do tactical victories rest: Discipline kept troops in line against the unending hordes and horrors of the 41st Millenium, Morale helped them to push forward, even if the body is shattered and broken -the spirit is willing.

The role to uphold morale in combat usually rests in the hands of NCOs and Commissars, in other regiments however... there are some specialised personnel.

Some sound was heard in the distance, its origin and nature revealed as it closed in on the AdMech Task Force, growing louder and louder to a distinct horrifying shrill only some degenerate monster might find relaxing.

A cachophony of notes streamed into the poor sods' skulls and refused to leave until there was nothing left inside but the scream of this monsterous instrument whose name was uttered in both hatered and admiration:

Preatorian Bagpipes

Right there, in the middle of the street, marched the source of the horror: A man in crimson tunic and white flak armour. Instead of trousers, he wore a long pleated skirt of similar fabric to the cape dangling from the shoulder and there, cradled in his hands was the THING.
He did not stop, not at all. The man marched directly to the poor Sergeant and stood in attention, the 'Music' mercifully ended as he did so.

"Company Piper, Duncan of Claan Callahan-Scott, 24th Preatorian Regiment o'Foot Reporting fer Duteh!" He loudly announced.

071C took a moment to process the order,then with only stating ++Praise the Omnissiah++ left the gathering. Scanned the area for the desired utility servo arm. By the time Alexander had finished his brief and had moved off, the servitor was just returned with its newly acquired arm. That said arm wasn't exact what your average guardsmen would call an 'arm'. Connected at the shoulder sprocket with a swivel, the long metal cylinder appeared to be a hydrologic piston with a bulky metal pincer on the end.

As he slow approached the group, the servitor noted the absence of designated Enginseer Alexander. With this development, he approached designated Skitarri Alpha Zeltra and stated an update.

++Unit 071C ready. Utility servo arm acquired. Heat at 32%. Head unit clear. Info: Unit under directions of Unit designated Enginseer Alexander, and Skitarri Alpha Zeltra.++

The servitor stared with bright, tireless eyes. Awaiting his next command.

Before Zeltra-25 could answer the Enginseer more people arrived. There were normal humans, another Skitarii, and even a Servitor joining the group. She listened to the Engineer’s briefing, trying to think of possible questions to ask. Once he finished the Alpha let out a short burst of Binaric Cant via internal vox and her squad went toward their designated Chimera. At was around this point the strange Servitor approached her, asking for orders.

++Orders: Accompany Zeltra-25 until new orders,++ she blurted in Binaric Cant to him before she made her way to Enginseer Chirigus.

“Greeting: Hello, venerable Enginseer! Query: For this expedition, what do you designate as the appropriate marching order for our party?” she asked.

Wilfred would place his fist over his chest before bowing slightly again and then before he could move towards the other units to get ready. the noise the awful terrible noise that should be considered a war crime and only used if an exterminatus was not enough. The dreaded sounds that even ork war songs sound like a choir compared to. The cruel. The terrible. the punishment for all of mans sins.

His ears already ringing he let out a small prayer of thanks as the "music" he bowed his head down a little bit. Wilfred looked at the other support unit and returned his salute . "Piper Duncan. Thank you for joining us" he said as he reached his hand out to shake "Sergeant Manner. Stehlen Forged 525th heavy support. " he swallowed a bit " Pleased to meet you."

Curious, a dangerous operation and yet the Praetorian feels that it should announce their arrival with noise. Perhaps it was an attempt to inspire his fellow troopers. Supposedly the sounds they refer to as music can be motivating, though based on the response of the other guardsmen...maybe it was some form of search by soundwave instead?

"Perhaps it is best for the operation not to announce our presence to possible enemies in ambush." Tiesel stated calmly.

He then turns his attention to the other skitarii. He sends the Alpha his identification.

++Greetings fellow warriors of the Omnissiah. May we be successful in our service++

DeBouillon raises to listen the briefing. The blowing wind rustling the long carmine feathers attached to the ‘wings’ of her back. The sound quickly joins by Duncan’s bagpipe. At first, she wants not to react to the ‘song’ but can restrain herself to grind her teeth and launch a stern gaze above her shoulder to the source of the ‘music’.
Apart for the noisy trooper, this mission looks like a good springboard to her career. Recovering a lost treasure of the adMech wile assisting a crew almost entirely composed of adepts of the Machine God. She just needs to prove the enginseer or the skitarii she’s not another meatbag, that she’s almost her equal. Yes, that will be good.

She turns to face the two guards, time to see with whom she’ll work. She stands in front of them, using her tall stature and the imposing mass of her ornamental armour to dominate them. Examining them like she examines a new lasgun, searching for the lesser anomalies that weaken the entire system.
“Sergeant, Piper! I hope you understand the mighty importance of our mission. I’m expected excellence and extreme discipline from you, because we’re the agents of the Astra Militarum. That’s clear? If you don’t have questions for the Enginseer, in the Chimera now! I don’t want the convoy delayed ‘cause of your lazy ass! We'll have all time to talk during the travel” Samia has enunciated her speech on a cold tone, without raising her voice or letting transpire any emotions unless a steel’s determination. Following her own order, the walks fast to the transport, retracting her wings before climbing in.

As the group spoke to one another, a sharp clank came from the Chimeras. Chirigus stood by Observer, his power axe drawn as a walking stick, tapping the bottom against the APCs ramp.

“I believe it is time to leave. If you all would, please enter. We will be meeting Traveller near the gate, and they converge with us. Time is of the essence.” He turned, to find Zeltra approaching. He listened to the Skitarri, before thinking for a moment as he looked over the group.

++I will leave the marching order to your discretion, but I may suggest that the servitor take the lead in case of danger, and the Skitarri to follow from the middle to respond to any threats.++ He waved his hand in a small dismissive motion, before turning around. ++Otherwise, use whatever order seems fit for the circumstance.++

As the techpriest moved on the the chimera, the pilots started their engines with a great roar. They waited for the groups to load up before heading off to the North Gate. They passed by PT groups jogging on the roads and civilians huddled around fires and tents to keep the chill wind at bay. The vehicles moved off from the line by the gate, pulling up to meet up with a Taroux parked next to the wall. The Chimeras stopped a few yards away, engines idle as they waited for the truck to pull into position. Standing around the truck is several Cadians, and six figures in red robes, and the sides and top of the truck have several crates and devices attached, including a small power generator.

However there seems to be an issue. Arguing with one Cadian and a rather short adept, an unseen son is barring the driver side door to the Taroux. The wind picks up their words and blows them away, but even a blind ork could tell that both sides weren’t going anywhere soon. Inside the command vehicle, Chirigus observers the argument, growing frustrated as results fail to appear. He reaches up to his ear, activating the vox system to contact the others over the shared channel.

++This is the Mechanicus retrieval team, operation head Alexander Chirigus Theodore. Where is Adept Galleus, and why are you not mobile?++ Despite the synthesised voice, the frustration was present in the Enginseers words. The Traveller group stops their fight, listening to their vox. One of the Adepts pulled out a vox system and hailed back.

++This is um, Adept Harlin, v-venerable Enginseer. We are-um well we...we can’t get in the Taroux.++ the man sounds nervous, and it seems that the three arguing in the front have taken notice to the groups arrival. The Unseen son leans back against the door of the truck, making a show not to move from it. Harlin spoke once more.”It s-seems that this Taroux is used by the unseen son, and it’s p-pilot refuses to let us drive it without him. Adept Galleus and Corporal Marrick have tried to get him to turn over the vehicles keys, but he’s being un-uncooperative...to say the least.++

++May the Omnissiah help me. Explorer, figure out what’s wrong. We don’t have time for this. Get the Taroux moving.++ With a click the vox is closed, and the pilot lowers the back ramp for the Explorers, as the argument begins to pick up again.

(Alright, you all have you orders. Get the Taroux moving. Sorry for the wait.)

++Praise the Omnissiah++ the servitor replied through the voxhailer mouth piece, a bit of static interfering with his low monotone voice. With this 071C followed exactly three paces behind Zeltra and continued to silently do so until they entered the transport. Upon embarkation, the servitor stopped near the entrance hatched and slow began to turned on the spot in the cramp confinement. Although it had raised his heat by 17% and risked headlock, 071C had decided that the Engineer's suggestion was indeed an order. Those unfortunate enough to enter after him and Zeltra would most likely struggle to get pass his slowly rotating bulk. Once around, the unit would continue to face the exit as it closes, firmly planted to the floor by his weight and steady stance. As the transport drove on, he would remain completely still in that position.

++Praise the Omnissiah++ the vox channel crackled to life again a moment after Chirigus had finished his message. Unit 071C immediately disembarked as the ramp came down, circling around and headed straight for the ragging argument. His legs moved with purpose as he approached the unseen son.

thump, thump, thump

But 071C showed no sign of stopping. His piston clamp arm moved to face directly forward whilst his more 'fleshy' arm bent forty-five degrees to mimic the clamp arm. At the same steady pace, he continued on his path straight to the unseen son.

thump, THUMP, THUMP

Without much more noise, the servitor walked into the guardsmen. The fact that the unseen son proved sturdy did not deter 071C. Piston legs pumping, slowly digging into the ground, he continued to walk against the obstacle to the Taroux door.
[[Roll to shunt the unseen son away from the door. Roll=-2+3 forceful=1 :| ]]
