Name: Gabriel Antioch

Gender: Male

Age: 29

Height: 6' 6"

Weight: 240 lbs

Notes: Genuinely Pious (Knows the "Infantryman's Primer's" prayers by heart)

Regiment: 203rd Cadian Combined-Arms Regiment

Born: Cadia - Kasr Rantik

Training: 21st Cadian Fusiliers, 203rd Cadian Combined-Arms Regiment

Summary: Most Guardsman come into the service with wide eyes and an unshakable faith in The Emperor. After a few days on the frontlines, however, that faith isn't quite as unshakable anymore and they start cramming their brains with whatever information will keep them alive rather than reciting prayers and poetry. By the time most Guardsman reach a level where they are recognized as "Veterans" they've become jaded and disillusioned.

Antioch differs greatly from his fellow Veterans in this regard, as his faith has grown more tempered where other's faiths were lost. While he is as skilled and capable as any of his fellow Guardsman he still holds strong to the pious messages that the Preachers and Confessors endlessly expound. As a result he is much more tolerant of the Whiteshields in his regiment and has become something of a father figure for many of the newer recruits. His by-the-book mentality has made him something of a go-to for the Command Staff and Commissariat of the 203rd, as such a devout outlook is so rare in a Veteran, but has painted a target on him for many of his fellow Guardsman at the same time.

7th Platoon, to which Antioch is assigned, is often referred to as the "Saintly Seventh" as it is the dumping ground for the majority of the Regiment's more pious members. Many of the "saltier" Veterans don't take well to the constant preaching of the junior personnel and, so, the 7th Platoon is made up of a remarkably large amount of non-veteran Guardsman and Whiteshields. Despite, this, though the Platoon pulls its weight well and gets the job done.

Antioch himself serves as Squadron Leader to a group of Whiteshields. He is a serious-minded leader and avid scholar of the tactics of Saint Macharius. He leads by example whenever possible but fully understands the need to sacrifice men to get the job done. Shortly after the 203rd's arrival on Naris his squad was ambushed by Tau sympathisers and suffered heavy casualties. Though his men were commended for repelling the assault (albeit posthumously) his squad has yet to be reinforced and, so, he leads a Squadron of one at the moment.

7th Platoon frequently held services with the Company Priest, but he was killed in action a few months prior to the 203rd's deployment to Naris and Antioch has had to fill the role ever since. Though he is anything but a skilled orator he leads small services and prayers throughout the Platoon and has even taken a confession or two. With Sanguinalia fast approaching, however, his work is anything but done.
