Catachans don't get those bulging muscles simply by being born in Catachan, they EARN those Guns!

It would be understandable that not all body types have the exact genetic template that allows for that type of excessive gunnery but it is by no means an excuse not to develop one's own body to its absolute muscular perfection, not only does it raise one's own ability to fight better for the God Emperor of Mankind and his Sacred Domain against the Foul Xenos, the Despicable Mutants, the Disgusting Traitors and the Very Flammable Heretics but also some Ancient Terran Wisdom once told "You can't climb zee Ladter of Zuccess vith Hands in your bockets, VORK ZAT ASS OFF!!" (That Wisdom being St. Arnie)
Besides, it's quite fetching to have a good physique.

Enter the Gym Tent: A fairly new asset of the Guard made by those who stick by the principles mentioned above, a place dedicated to the improvement of the sacred Human Body and its Melee capability, made ever more useful considering the current Xeno Enemy.
Just don't ask where they got it from, Martial Law allows the Guard to get away with many things but better they be left unsaid.
Here are kept the more delicate training Equipment: Racks containing various improvised Barbells and Weights for lifting, refurbished adjustable training benches, worn Elastic Straps, scavenged Pipes for Pull Ups, old Mats for Push Ups, one might find all that is required within the bounds of the reasonable -after all there is a big yard outside meant for the more open space training and not all equipment is as shiny and new as it could have been, some mass had to be retrieved from other places such as the recently demolished Motor Pool. To the side there is the Sand Pit for those who have brawling in mind Terra-Macraggo Wrestling is a fairly widespread sport with military applications.
True the Guard must be always ready to fight therefore the Tent possesses a Weapons Locker guarded by those responsible for Gym Watch today. A Separate Locker is right next to it intended for the more mundane things such as Uniforms and Kit.
Various Posters of Catachans, Cadians, Sisters of Battle and His Avenging Angels are hung to inspire morale in the troops without the need of the Bolt Pistol.
For the purposes of Ventilation during the summer: several windows were cut through which during the winter can be closed to allow the Heaters to warm up the place.

Be it in Groups, be it Alone, One Coaches the Other, be it Mandatory or Voluntarily, all are welcome in this Temple of the SWOLE.
Maybe with enough Dedication even YOU can Wrestle a Space Marine one Day!

[[Many Thanks to NickolausofKreig and LaxKnight for helping me writing this bit!]]

With a loud *whack* his fist impacted the punching bag and for the briefest moment a dull pain spread through the hand and the lower arm. Eckhardt took a step back from the punching bag and stroke some sweat out of his forehead. This was good. It felt good. The pain kept the thoughts away.

The lieutenant knew very well he wasn't exactly the picture of health. He had muscles alright, but he smoked too much and drank way too much. He tried to keep it under control. Well... the drinking anyways. It'd take the Emperor himself to order him away from those. But at least they didn't cloud his judgment the way the drink did.

He stepped closer to the punching bag again, raised his fists and then sent them rapidly into the punching bag. Keeping himself light on his feet as he did so. He hated it for it. And days when he felt he couldn't control it he came here... to get it out of his system. Work out until every muscle in the body screamed in pain. It would help. Keep his thoughts away from alcohol.

For a while.

Until the faces started coming back to him again. His own personal little demons. Then that bottle would come out again. It would make them all go away. And he loved it for it.

He sent his knee into the punching bag so hard it started swinging back and forth, and he reached his arms forward to grab it and stabilize it. Taking a deep breath he stepped back from the punching bag and reached for his towel lying on the bench beside it. He took the canteen that had been lying there and took a deep swig from it. Water. He wasn't -that- depraved... not yet at least.

He took a few deep breaths, dabbing his soaked forehead with the towel and looking out over the gym for a moment. Holding the canteen in front of him, ready for another sip.

His gaze met with a pair of dark glassy lenses belonging to a Krieger's Gasmask.

The observer was at the tent's open flap, scanning the place before committing to entry until it saw the Lieutenant, how long did it stare is unknown. The eye contact lingered for a moment and then broken by the visitor who then proceeded its course by the Gym Overseer's desk, currently occupied by Sergeant Jakobs whose purple eyes were all too occupied in the crosswords to spare more than a glance of acknowledgement and tossing over the keys.

The Weapons Locker was stuffed by a case of a disassembled Long Las as well as a Laspistol. Then the adjacent Kit Locker was filled with the folded clothes of the rapidly disrobing Erika Hass, as she now could be identified due to the temporal lack of Respirator that too was neatly tucked into the locker leaving her in what could be equated to a PT Uniform consisting of a Grey Tight Shirt and Shorts.

Erika's Callimyssian features were coated in a thin sheen of natural sweat (Byproduct of Wearing Respirators) and broken in places by a patchwork of injuries and scars: Some stretched out by time and growth some recently closed by nothing more than a field suture, if not accentuating the impressive potential of her physique then at least providing evidence to its sheer durability. A Towel draped over the shoulder and holding a canteen bearing the description "Apfelzaft" too worn to be seen or understood by anyone but herself, the Kriegerin approached Yudel.

"Salutazions Sir." She respectfully and enthusiastically greeted Eckhardt "Do you rekvire assistance?"

The cadian lieutenant inclined his head in greeting to the enthusiastic soldier as she came to greet him. She seemed to be quite a patchwork of scars and old injuries, like most guardsmen with a campaign or two under their belt he mused. As she asked him if he required any assistance his first thought was to decline, but then he cast a glance at the barbells lying over by the side. He gestured at them with the canteen in his hand.

"I was considering doing some lifting. Perhaps we could spot for one another? If you wish, you are free to say no if you had other plans"

He turned his eyes back to the krieger and smiled at her, trying to give her the expression he would not take any offense if she decided otherwise

It wasn't a Campaign in it's textbook sense, but one unending Battle on multiple fronts which rewarded the woman with those disfigurments, one that until recetly was limited only to her Homeworld.

Erika's eyes followed the Lt.'s target and her brows furrowed in lack of understanding for a second, then raised when the dots connected "Did you mean Safety andt Morale Offersait, sir? Affirmatiffe!" The Kriegerin led the way onward.

When both reached the Barbells the woman took the place of the Spotter and announced "In Pozitzion, Sir!"

Luca entered the tent quietly, he hadn't been back to train since the incident with Vayne, he still owed the younger ginger a drink. Luca was here to work on his body, his most important weapon. Being able to pin or punch an enemy and force a submission or finish them off was important especially in clearing hives. Arbites liked taking prisoners usually meant they found more mutants or scum to kill later few would refuse to answer a question from an Arbite.

He decided to begin with some light training on a punching bag, pulling off the black T-shirt he wore leaving him in just fatigue pants and his combat boots he raised his fists. The pale skinned Terran began to punch hard at the bag shifting the large sand-filled training device with each punch.

He focused his mind on the combo's how to strike and follow up each move, beginning to sway with his punches as he suddenly spun and delivered a roundhouse heel kick into what would have been most combatant's necks. Before rapidly pulling back taking a breath and moving forward once again to repeat the combination of blows, repetition memorizing a set of techniques was important once you understood how to perform a set of blows without thinking about it you had it mastered.

Luca felt happy at this moment because for once he didn't feel like he didn't know something, how to act, how to answer, or even respond to something another did that he'd ever seen in his 'sheltered' life. He wore a smile as he seemed to be trying to beat seven bells out of the punching bag.

Eckhardt chuckled as the young woman enthusiastically headed over to the barbells and sealing his canteen he followed her. Giving Corporal Astora a nod of greeting as the pale man took his place by the punching bags.

He rolled his shoulders once as he approached the bench, an old injury had left it a little stiff and he always felt the need to warm up a little extra. He took some familiar weights and put them on the bar, fixing them in place. He wasn't aiming to impress anyone here, this was maintenance. Nothing more.

Lying down on the bench he then signalled to the krieg woman that he was ready. Grasping the barbell firmly he then began to make a series of controlled presses.

"I got to say, I find your excitement for this quite motivating."

Slowly moving into the gym, aided by a crutch and hindered by a layer of gauze, Krag checked a locker and put the small amount of personal items he had. Hands shaking as he closed the door, he let out a sigh. Being shot was always a fun experience, and one he was use to, but Tau weapons packed a serious punch. He'd been in the Medicae for some time, and was getting frustrated with how little he could do. Everyday it felt like more of him was withering away, getting weaker as the enemy got stronger, harder, meaner. After what felt like forever he was able to get up and move around, and had decided to come to the gym, to try and get back some muscle mass.

Wincing as he moved to a set of free weights, he sat down exhausted. He swore at himself, and used his good arm to grab his normal weight set. It felt heavier than usual, another sigh of how much he'd lose. He began doing curls, working his body to flex and stretch for more strenuous parts.

He looked around, and spotted a few faces he recognized. Luca on the punching bag, that weird kreiger woman at the barbell. He nodded their way, but continued to lift. Already his arm ached, but he wasn't stopping till he reached his max.

At the Signal, Erika grabbed the heavy metal stick, leaned over the Lieutenant and remarked with a warm expression "Eagerness to obey orders iz expektedt. Motivazion fulfils orders." At the same time she gently transferred the weight to Eckhard's hands then hardening into an expression of fury fitting for... well... the person in red sash responsible for Morale Oversight. "BEGIN LIFTING!"

Throughout the whole bout, the woman's hands carefully traced the Lieutenant's movements, hovering just beneath the barbell with utmost care no doubt from the fact that officer's health should be preserved. All along she harshly hissed a mixture of numbers going up and Morale Uplifting Phrases. "Eins, Zwei, Drei, More! Vier, Funf, Keep Going!"

It was easy to fall into a rhythm with the counting of the enthusiastic kriegerin. That was of course the point, that and having someone keep you from easily giving up. Under the other soldier's watcful eyes, Eckhardt opted for a rotation of fifteen presses, holding the instrument aloft for a short moment every five, before returning the barbell to it's resting position on the stand. Then he took a short breather before grasping the bell again and repeating the whole routine.

After the fourth rotation he hung up the barbell and rose up from the bench, rolling his left shoulder to loosen it up. It was feeling quite stiff and tender so he figured that a break was called for. One had to know one's limitations after all.

"Allright, your turn."

He stood up and indicated for the other soldier to take his place. Throwing a glance around at the other visitors to the gym as he took his place, giving nod in greeting to the other cadian that had entered the room. The crutch and gauze telling a quite clear story as to why the other soldier was there. He had been in the same position himself many times before.

Luca paused and took a breather shaking his arms as bounced from one leg to another for a moment, he noticed Krast was lifting weights. He hadn't had a chance to talk with the Cadian storm trooper since... Well, the day he'd arrived, he'd heard him over the vox some or run into him around the base but hadn't talked with him. He figured it would be good to say hello to one of the only people who had given him a warm welcome upon his arrival.

He decided to take a break and moved to go sit near Krast for a bit, as he worked to calm his breathing. "Been a while since I caught up with you," Luca spoke as the Lucifer eyed the weights deciding to focus on other things today, weights would come later. "Last time we talked I'd just arrived here and I think we were giving Vayne a height inferiority complex." He chuckled a moment.

Erika's eyes followed Yudel's own, trying to gauge the point of his fixation. She didn't comment on either of the men seeing they were occupied in conversation.

The Kriegerin made a few preliminary stretchings of her relatively broad shoulders, arms and Spine, then laid down on her back where Eckhardt just was "In Pozitzion, Sir!" she confirmed readiness and held onto the Metal Stick. The Weights remained unchanged.

Eckhardt noticed that the krieger didn't change her weights, but he couldn't tell whether it was because it was the set she'd pick for herself or out of a desire to impress the officer. Well, as long as she didn't hurt herself it didn't really matter and besides... right now it was his job to keep an eye on her to make sure she didn't hurt herself.

"Going with the same set of weights, are you? Very well. Show me what you got then, soldier!"

He kept his eyes on the soldier as she began doing her presses, ready to intervene if she looked like she was struggling or slipping. Counting the lifts just as she had done, to help with motivation.

"Not too many of your people visit this tent often I've noticed. Five. I figure it has something to do with your general approach to life and duty. Six. Which makes me curious. How come you're here? Seven"

Motivation was not very critical to the performance of the Mature Common Kreiger and had more to do with simply keeping count, though the phrase 'Blessed is the One who adds Beyond' always had a kernel of truth.
The Kreigerin did not answer yet, too much energy was allocated to maintain concentration.

Instead she opted to inhale and exhale as slowly as she operated the barbell, her chest rising and descending in a practised slow rhythm akin to the cyclicality a tide rather than of a wave. Her method was much slower than of Ekhardt's, not due to hardship as visible by both a clear lack of involuntary muscular trembling on the body and the levelled yet focused expression chiselled upon her face. It prioritised endurance, determination and both Fine & Gross motor controls over simple strength or the burning of body fat.

12 Presses: that was the rotation, lower than the Lieutenant's but expected for different goals.
"Little Free Time, Physical Ability must be maintained for kombat, Similar facilities prezent in ze Compondt, uze ofv zis vone normalizes Krieg Units' prezense among Non-Kriegers, zus a better alternatiffe."
She answered the man's question during the Breather between presses by listing the factors. "More Kvestzions, sir?" she asked before starting her 2nd rotation.

Krast lowered the dumb bell, arm muscles burning but he was glad he could at least reach his max set. He then looked up as Luca approached. It took a moment for his mind to put a name to the face, but the comment over their shared joke with Vayne hit the switch. He was that Terran that somehow got sent here. Lucifer’s Black. Krast smiles and chuckled, quickly reminded how much that hurt.

“Well if it isn’t the big shot from Holy Terra itself. Luca right?” He said, reaching out a hand to shake.” Well any other day, and I’d like to see who could lift for, Good old Cadian muscle versus Terran Training. But right now I’m a bit of a sorry example.” He frowned at the last remark, looking towards the weight bench. He’d love to get some bench pressing done, but the doctors would kill him if he tore his stitches this early.

"Hey, I'm no big shot. I just happen to come from the Hives of Terra." He added shaking Krast's hand. "Yeah, Luca Astora. I think you were about the only one who didn't laugh the moment I said I was Terran. I was glad for that, was a long trip to get here and I was annoyed when people didn't believe I was who I said I was."

"As for seeing who can lift more... I'm sure are training was pretty different. Maybe instead we hit the range sometime, should be easier on you until we can get in here and find out for sure." He offered as he picked up a set of weights taking it slow as he did curls, so he could talk as he worked. He found it was always better to have company when you did things like this, kept your mind in the right place.

“Hey, most of us have only heard about Terra from posters and holotapes if we’re lucky. Your just a stone throws away from the Emperors throne room. Sounds pretty nice to me.” Krast said as he shook Lucas hand.” And about the laughing, were all part of the Guard. Cadian, Terran, Catachan, Steel legion, krieger even; we’re all brothers and sisters now.” He shook his head and looked in the distance.

“And don’t listen to me, too much time in the medicae. And sure, I’ll take you up on the range. Do some good to get a rifle back in my hands.” He said as he watched Luca lift. He decided to settle for some stretching for now.

Her reply brought a smile to his lips as he stood there ready to intervene in case she'd slip. She came here to help the normalisation between regiments? And from the sound of it it was on her own initiative and not due to being ordered (he figured more of them would have been here if that was the case). That impressed him quite a bit.

"That's very dedicated of you. We need more soldiers taking similar initiatives.

I take it you're with the Nine thousand four hundred and fifty third then? You seem a little more sociable most of your kin"

Frankly he had a pretty good idea who she was already, even if he had never seen her out of the full krieg outfit. But it never hurt to confirm.

9453... On some subconcious level the number of the diasporal identification still stung; on the same subconcious level, a counter action buried it deeper as to not affect the unit's performance. The only visible difference in a miniscule lingering delay to push the bar again, negligable at worst.

"Affirmatiffe. My deviancy iz vithin akceptable parameters." The Kriegerin half answered, half excused.

"Haffe you seen many Kriegers, sir?" Erika asked right before beginning her 3rd rotation.

The lieutenant followed the krieger's presses, chuckling a little at the question.

"It's a rather relative question, is it not? Have I seen many kriegers? Truth be told I had never met any from your world before this deployment so I guess the answer in one way is no, but I had read and heard about you. There's a fair few works of strategy discussing your kin and the way you fight and train and I've made it a point to read them ever since I learned we'd fight side by side.

In addition to that I've made it a point to study you and how you all work. Try to figure out what makes you all tick. Some would have me believe your people is a simple lot... but I'm not so sure that's correct. "
